Press Release: Richton Park's Super Walmart Groundbreaking Ceremony

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“Richton Park’s Super Walmart Groundbreaking Ceremony”
Village of Richton Park

RICHTON PARK, IL – Wednesday September 2, 2015, the Village of Richton Park held the highly anticipated Groundbreaking Ceremony for Super Walmart. The site sits just west of the I-57 expressway on Sauk Trail, the excavating and planning process has been well underway. Located at 22401 Central Ave, construction crews can be seen plotting out the vast land; all are excited to see the progression as time moves along. Village President Reinbold stated “Just months ago this was vacant land, and now to see the erection of this Super Center from earth to brick and mortar is magnificent.”

The Village hosted the Groundbreaking Ceremony at the new Super Walmart site, among the huge tractors, machinery, and dirt mounds from Novak Construction. Many people showed up for the awaited event, including Village President, Rick Reinbold, Village Trustees, Village staff, Village Economic Development Commission members, Village Merchants Chamber participants, Illinois State Senator Michael Hastings, Walmart representatives, and Novak Construction representatives.

At the center of the groundbreaking site was a billboard stating “Coming soon to Richton Park. Walmart; Save money, live better.” Below the billboard stood a table which included more than a dozen hardhats, alongside a pickup truck toting Novak Construction’s name. In front of this setting was a mound of overturned soil bearing fifteen silver shovels that glistened in the sun. After much congratulating, congregating, and many photos, a reception followed at the Richton Park Community Center. Village Manager De’Carlon Seewood comments, “We are very excited to be bringing such a grand establishment home to the Village of Richton Park. It’s one of the first steps in changing the future of Richton Park for the better.” On behalf of Walmart, Public Affairs & Government Relations Director Michelle Caraballo commented that “This is a wonderful opportunity for both Richton Park and Walmart to be able to come to the community. The Village Board and staff have been tremendous in this endeavor and we will embark on a great partnership. We look forward to providing new retail options, fresh grocery, jobs, and becoming part of Richton Park’s economic development.”
