[ARCHIVED] Incident 11/3/24 @ 4100 Block of Arlington

RPPD Patch 1

On Sunday, November 3, 2024, at approximately 4:25 am, the Richton Park Police Department responded to a call for service involving a male subject, who barricaded himself inside a residence in the 4100 block of Arlington. The female complainant told officers that the father of her children, identified as Troy D. Knight (male offender, 30 years old) had locked himself inside a room within the residence with their two (2) children. Knight had made threats to harm himself and the children with a firearm inside of the residence.

Richton Park Officers staged in the vicinity of the residence, with the assistance of area law enforcement agencies. The South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SSERT) was activated and deployed resources. Knight voluntarily exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident, prior to SSERT officers entering the residence. Richton Park Fire Department and Paramedics responded and evaluated Knight and the children on scene. Both children were unharmed and reunited with their mother. Knight was transported to the Richton Park Police Department.

Richton Park Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and processed the scene for evidence. A firearm and ammunition was located during the search and collected as evidence.

The Cook County States Attorney’s Office- Felony Review Unit was notified and approved multiple felony charges. Knight was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon by Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Restraint, and Intimidation. Knight remains in custody and was later transported to the Cook County Jail for lodging. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Richton Park Police Department would like to thank the Cook County States Attorney’s Office- Felony Review Unit, The South Suburban Emergency Response Team, The Richton Park Fire Department, assisting area law enforcement agencies, and SouthCom Dispatch Center.

As noted by the Pew Research Center, in 2021, 48,830 people died from gun-related injuries in the U.S., according to the CDC. The Richton Park Police Department will tirelessly work to deter gun-related crimes within our community. We will continue to provide a safe and professional police service to the men, women, and children of our fine community. Together, we can accomplish anything.
