Introducing New Finance Director, Wasiu A. Fashina

Wasui Fashina

Fashina was the Chief of Staff at the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, IL, where he was responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives and policies, oversaw special projects, represented the Office at the Cook County Board of Commissioner’s Board meetings, and directed HR, Finance and Public Policy staff activities. Prior to being appointed as the Chief of Staff, he was the Chief Financial Officer & Comptroller at the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. He was responsible for Budget, Investments, Cash Management, Payroll, Procurement, Accounting, Auditing, and all financial activities, managing a budget of more than $100 million, managing investments of $59 million on a quarterly basis, and overseeing the receipting, processing and, depositing of more than $200 million annually.

Mr. Fashina was an active member of the Government Finance Officer Treasury Management and Investment Committee, where Treasury Management and Investment policies best practices are developed for governmental agencies world-wide.

Prior to serving in the Public Sector, Mr. Fashina worked in the Private Sector as a successful Investment Banker/Stockbroker where he was a financial advisor and counselor to more than 75 investors, assisting clients in setting definite, aggressive, but achievable investment goals.

Mr. Fashina earned his BSc. in Finance from the University of Illinois and his MSc. in Management from National Louis University.
