From Humble Beginnings to Re-Opening
Shon and Michiel Burnett, owners of DBC Offices, began their entrepreneurial journey in 2005 with a home-based printing company. After facing homelessness and struggling to find affordable office space in the south suburbs, Shon and Michiel were inspired by Illinois State Representative Will Davis to create a business incubator. This vision led them to find support from Douglas Gardner of Cisco Music World in Hazel Crest, where they started their journey in shared office space.
In 2017, with the help of the Village of Richton Park, DBC Offices opened its first location in the Brown Stone Building. As the south suburbs' first co-working space and business incubator, DBC Offices has supported hundreds of solopreneurs and small businesses with affordable office solutions and community-focused programs.
A Setback and a Comeback
In early 2024, DBC Offices temporarily closed for five months due to circumstances beyond their control. However, thanks to the unwavering support from the Village of Richton Park and its loyal members, DBC Offices has reopened its doors and is ready to continue serving the community.
Beyond Office Space
In addition to offering Virtual Business Addresses, Flexible Office Spaces, and Dedicated Offices, Shon and Michiel Burnett are also the founders of DBC Gifts of Love, a nonprofit that serves our community in the following ways: Dedicated to bringing awareness to homelessness in the local community. Giving back to the community through various drives; book bag and school supply, food, and toy drives. Provide hands-on work experience and exposure to new career opportunities for 18-24 year olds and 55+ seniors. Michiel is also the host of an entrepreneurial podcast-The Red Hot News.
